Organization Tips

One of the most important benefits of organizing your space is reduced STRESS. Simply having a more efficient system to keep track of your papers, appointments, and personal belongings can help minimize stress-influenced conditions. Keeping your house clean and organized can be a pain, and sometimes its just don right hard to make time each day to get stuff done.

For me organization is key, keeping things organized and in a common place can save tons of time and make you feel less stressed about your clutter. The Process of getting organized helps you familiarize yourself with what you currently have, making it a great fresher so you are not buying the same hand soap 15 more times over when you already have 30 under your sink! Here are some things I do at home to help me stay organized.

Magazine Holder:

Use a magazine holder to hold your aluminum foil, zip lock bags, wax paper, and more. Either mount it to your cabinet doors or simply keep it in your cabinet and keep all of the boxes standing up and out of the way!

Under Sink Organization:

I recently found out that I was not utilizing my under sink space by only using the bottom level of the cabinet. Leaving things stacked terribly and the cabinet is left stuffed and hard to find exactly what you need. Then I got organizers for under my sink and my life has been changed, I finished with more room than I started with which is what we are doing this for right?!

FIFO Your Pantry:

First in first out. Every time you go grocery shopping bring all of your old food to the front and your newly bought food to the back, this will help you use up old food you didn’t even know you had!

Shopping Station:

Use a magnetic board for your fridge, use for a shopping list. This will ensure you buy exactly what you need and help with useless shopping. This one from amazon also has a weekly list to keep you even more organized. I would add magnetic pockets to keep all of your coupons there as well so it a one stop shop before you leave for your grocery trip.

Linen Closet:

Linen closets always seem to be over flowing and hard to keep organized. Start by storing your sheet inside the matching pillow cases. Use bins to store rags, supplies, or even toiletries. I just bought these bins from amazon to use in my linen closet.

Pantry:

Keep bulk items in stack-able bins. This eliminates bulky boxes and you can see exactly what you are looking for.

Side Of Fridge Storage:

This hack you can either DIY to get the exact size you are looking for. You can find tons of ideas on Pinterest for this. Use the side of your fridge for extra storage, some use this for spices but you can make it work for you and use it for anything you please. This one I found on amazon.

  1. Cut a lemon in half
  2. Fill a microwavable safe bowl or container with water
  3. Squeeze the juice of both of the lemons into the water then drop the lemon halves into the water as well.
  4. Microwave on high for 10 min
  5. DO NOT OPEN THE MICROWAVE WHEN THE TIME IS UP.
  6. Leave the door closed for another 20 min, the steam will loosen all of the caked on food.

Perfect plants for the first time plant owner

Alright guys you read it, we are talking PLANTS. I’ve recently turned into a crazy plant lady. There is only one issue with that… I can’t keep plants alive! I know that I can’t be the only one. I’ve heard many of my friends tell me similar stories about their love hate relationships with plants. So here I have made a list of 8 plants for the first time plant owner. These are plants that are strong enough for the not so savvy plant parent.

1. The Snake Plant

Obviously I had to put my favorite one first. The snake plant is a versatile house plant. It is an excellent plant for the forgetful gardener and is considered a top air purifier plant for indoor environment. Ideal lighting for the snake plant would be in direct sunlight. Allow the soil to dry in between waterings and this plant will thrive with low maintenance.

2. Fiddle Leaf Fig

This tree will bring a new element to your house. With beautiful green foliage this plant stands out. Although this plan does not like direct sunlight it will adapt to most indirect lighting and low light locations. With this plan you will water more generously throughout the summer months but once winter comes you can slow down the amount of water given. Making this plant easy to manage.

3. Chinese Money Plant

Well this plant won’t grow actual money, but it sure is cute! This plant like others thrives off indirect light making this plant is ideal for most rooms in your house. The Chinese Money Plant can also control your indoor humidity levels and access a natural air purifier. This plant can be beneficial for your health as well as your mood. I don’t know about you but I could use some good mood juju.

4. Air Plant

Air plants popularity seem to have been flourishing within the past few years and there’s a reason why! These plants are perfect for home school and work. They require very little upkeep, only soaking the plant once a week. Keep these plants out of direct sun or else their moisture will be depleted. Take care of these plants and they can last you years.

5. Spider Plant

The spider plant is one of the easiest house plants to maintain the spider plant will produce oxygen while purifying the air in your home and office by absorbing carbon monoxide. You will only need to water this plant once per week during your first year which should be enough to keep the soil consistently moist. This plant thrives in bright indirect light putting in direct light will cause the plants moisture to be depleted.

6. Aloe Plant

I recently just bought my first aloe plant and I’m loving it! Aloe plants love indirect light and thrive with a good soak every week or two. This plant is from the succulents family and helps remove harmful pollution from the air and provides abundant oxygen back into the air around it. Not only are these plants easy to take care of their good to keep on hand to use for your beauty routine and sun damage.

7. ZZ Plant

This plant is a little different from the rest on the list, this plant thrives off both low and high amounts of light, low humidity and dry soil. This plant is a favorite indoor plant because it removes airborne toxins by transpiring at a high rate. when watering this plant allow the soil to become dry at the top and do not over water. It’s best to water this plant less than too much because over watering can cause damage to the plant.

8. Succulents

Last but not least succulents! These bad boys have been a part of my life for a while now. Well super easy to take care of and low maintenance there’s a reason these plants are such a popular house plants.
